BUSINESS RESEARCHER INTERN | REMOTE

The Business Researcher intern works closely with the CEO to propose and conduct user research activities consisting of strategic and tactical studies and is responsible for coordinating, planning, executing, and reporting on activities across multiple teams and business areas. This individual must have a passion for user experience research specifically as it relates to software development.


Duties & Responsibilities

You Will Be Expected To Perform The Following Tasks:

  • Drive broad market research for products and platforms, which includes synthesizing major reports, books, and talks.

  • Craft research plans based on potential gaps in high-level analysis, specifically attempting to isolate and understand the areas that are interesting for Vianai's products and market opportunities.

  • Work closely with product managers to conduct research based on their needs and the needs of the products.

  • Collect market data on Vianai's clients, competitors, and markets; consolidate that information into meaningful items, reports, and presentations.

  • Compile and analyze statistical data using modern and traditional collection methods.

  • Present findings and recommendations on approaches for products and markets.

  • Some experience in project management, specifically in managing contractors and working with others through informal influence to accomplish goals.

  • Analyze news pieces, company speeches, annual reports, CEO remarks and synthesize them into a coherent narrative on company strategy and direction.

  • Work 100% remotely and participate in regular team meetings and calls

  • May be asked to perform other duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1+ years of market research experience (high-tech industry preferred) solving complex questions with simple answers

  • Quantitative research: 1-3 years (Preferred)

  • User research: 3 years (Preferred)

Required Skills & Experience

  • Experienced knowledge of data collection methods (executive interviews, polls, focus groups, etc...)

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking.

  • Ability to interpret large amounts of data and deliver impactful insights.

  • Some understanding of Design Thinking methodology, especially as it's applied in software and business settings.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with design, strategy, product, and platform teams.

  • Ability to plan through ambiguity to reach actionable insights.

  • A love of knowledge, curiosity, and the ability to thrive with complex, sometimes ambiguous tasks.

Education & Training

  • Currently enrolled in a university program working towards a Bachelor's or Masters in marketing, journalism, communications, statistics, cognitive sciences, or a related field.

Ability to work remotely

This role requires the ability to work remotely. This means you have access to a working stable internet connection. You have access to a secure email client that can send and receive email communications without interruption. you're an organized, self-starter that requires minimal oversight. You accomplish tasks quickly and on time. Working remotely is not always an easy task. But for you, you got it down to a science. You will be required to check in for regular team meetings and calls held virtually via Zoom
