About CERN

A varied group of scientists, engineers, and professionals work together at CERN in Geneva, Switzerland, to uncover the universe's greatest mysteries. They explore the fundamental building blocks of matter, or fundamental particles, using the largest and most sophisticated scientific apparatus in the world. When these particles are accelerated to speeds almost as fast as light and made to collide, scientists learn crucial information about particle interactions and gain new understanding of the basic rules of existence.
