Responsibilities

  • Shipping new features to apps that serve thousands of clients and hundreds of thousands of diners across the world

  • Contributing to our open source projects

  • Collaborating closely with product and project managers, designers, QA analysts, and other engineers

  • Continuously striving to improve our engineering culture and your own skills

  • Writing technical documentation

This Role Is Right For You If…

  • You have an eye for design and are passionate about design systems and world-class UI and UX

  • You speak fluent English and are an exceptional communicator with experience in remote async communication best practices

  • You have strong technical skills and are always deepening your understanding of software engineering

Language skills

  • Fluent in English is required (good writing, listening, reading, and speaking skills)

  • Japanese is not required

Evaluation Criteria

  • Applicants with a portfolio website that showcases their best work in detail will be in a better position

  • Applicants will be evaluated on the basis of their technical skill, cultural fit, and strength of their previous experience

  • Applicants might be asked to complete a small coding project for evaluation purposes

Work Style

  • Flexible schedule. Flex time with core hours of 11:00 am to 3:00 pm Monday through Friday

  • Remote First. We don't have any hard rules about the number of in-office vs remote days per week allowed. Instead, we assume that each employee will work with their team and manager to do what's best for both themselves and the company.
     
    Note: We welcome remote work from other countries as long as you can work between 10:00-19:00 JST (or within a few hours of this time)

  • Our vacation policy is in line with Japanese standards. We assume this means 10 days of paid time off during your first year with yearly increases according to Japanese law

International

  • We offer visa support for both new applications and renewals. Additionally, for new hires from abroad, we're often open to having applicants work remotely as a consultant while the visa application is in progress

  • Our official language is English, and we generally don't require Japanese skills for IT or engineering staff. We speak English at work and have many non-Japanese developers, but most staff outside of their engineering department is Japanese, so we consider Japanese ability to be a plus
