Job Description
Ability to use hand and power tools
Loading and unloading trucks with supplies and equipment and distributing construction materials
Assembly and dismantling of concrete formwork, scaffolding, walkways, barricades, trenching, laying concrete and asphalt
Perform manual work and operate equipment: jackhammers, rammers, mixers, forklifts, drills, and measuring equipment
Work with other crew members to complete projects or tasks in the field
Conduct activities in alignment with company health and safety policies, procedures, regulations and legislations, and stay up-to-date on safety precautions and construction plans
Assist in carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, or drywall activities
Assist in the installation of doors, windows and cabinets
Perform other duties within the employee's capabilities as assigned
Work in all phases of the project, from demolition to finishing
Required Qualifications
Basic level of English with the ability to understand basic construction terminology
Work experience 6 months minimum
Experience in plumbing, painting, carpentry, electrical, drywall and construction is generally considered an asset
Knowledge of occupational health and safety standards is desirable
Knowledge of workplace safety and safe weightlifting and handling procedures is an asset
Required Skills and Competencies
General knowledge of construction
Work in all phases, from demolition to finishing
Familiarity with hand tools and power tools
Experience installing doors, windows, cabinets and drywall is considered an asset
Able to work well with others in a team environment
Ability to follow directions and ask when in doubt
Be organized and able to keep the work area clean
Integrity, good judgment, strong work ethic
Willing to learn and have an "I can do it" attitude
Be able to be on your feet 8 hours/day
You should have your essential hand tools and belt
Capable of lifting 50 pounds (22 kg approx)
Be able to work outdoors
