The Machine Department Wood Machinist is accountable for setting up, program and running of precision machine operations. Responsible for driving change and improvement via the identification of continuous improvement projects.
Safely and efficiently set up and operate CNC woodworking center, shapers (spindle moulder), drilling machines, wide belt sanders, thicknesser, dovetailer, Edgebander, Panel Saw, Beamsaw, Docking saw, Bandsaw
Load and unload jigs and fixtures
Load material onto machines
Unload and visually inspect components
Perform quality checks
Maintain a clean workspace
Ensure timely work order closures.
Assist in Maintaining machinery and equipment and or maintenance programs.
Generate and maintain a high level of morale and confidence amongst colleagues.
Ensure budgets and quality standards are met in the department.
Maximise production efficiency at all times. This includes job times, quality and workflows.
Liaise with all other departments.

Conduct (in partnership with WHS Officer) all hazard and accident investigations and recommend preventative actions when required
Ensure safe working procedures are followed.
Initiate actions to improve WHS and take immediate action to amend any unsafe situations/acts.
Ensure employees are inducted and understand and comply with WHS safe work policies and practices.
QUALITY
Monitor and ensure a high standard of quality workmanship at all times.
Develop and nurture a culture of quality workmanship amongst colleagues.
Must have Trade Certificate
Technical Skills and Knowledge
Minimum 3 yrs experience working in furniture manufacturing.
Experience in Working in a high volume modern factory environment (desirable)
