We are looking for a UX/UI expert specialising in the design of web application UIs with an interest in biological data to join us. The successful candidate will work together with scientists, bioinformaticians and software engineers to further improve the user interface of of our Protein Structure Database. The candidate will be an expert in graphics design, and will also be responsible for the validation of the UI designs through user research and interviews. You will work closely with developers, bioinformaticians, developers and scientists. You will be responsible for designing and validating new user interface elements as well as improving the existing ones. This role is based in Hinxton, near Cambridge, UK. You will be required to relocate if you are based overseas and you will receive a generous relocation package to support you. International applicants are offered visa exemptions.
3+ years of experience in UX/UI of public-facing web applications
Knowledge of graphics design principles
Experience in design and prototyping tools, e.g. Figma
Experience in Adobe Illustrator
Experience in user research and user testing
Excellent communication skills
A degree in life sciences
Relevant certifications in UX/UI and graphics design
Proven track record of creating designs for scientific data providers
Interest in molecular biology
Experience working in an Agile environment
