We're searching for a Sr. Product Manager with significant kubernetes and cloud infrastructure experience who wants to assist enterprises enhance and automate their development processes. You'll have a lot of actual autonomy in this role. Seriously. There's a lot of work and not enough time, and we're looking for this position expressly to entrust someone with crucial aspects of our product strategy and roadmap. It doesn't mean we won't provide a terrific onboarding and career experience for you; it just means we need someone with a strong bias for action to take a high-level vision or objective and run towards it. What you’ll be responsible for

  • Take an active role in defining the future

    • Support the development of a vision for your product area; take full ownership if you’re ready for that

    • Identify the right opportunities to pursue to innovate in your product area

    • Champion your product vision within your team, the company, and among the Okteto community

    • Thought-partner with Okteto’s founders, customers, and director of product to inform your vision and roadmap; bring strong opinions if you have them, but hold them loosely

  • Drive the product in the right direction

    • Develop a roadmap that prioritizes the most important work for your vision

    • Be really good at understanding the underlying problems our customers have and translating that into proposals (or PRDs)

    • Facilitate refinement discussions with your Engineering peers to focus on smaller, iterative pieces of work; perfection can wait

    • Balance new features, improvements, and bug fixes to ensure we provide a high quality, secure, and reliable product

  • Manage the product lifecycle end-to-end

    • Collaborate with engineers and designers throughout the entire product development cycle to provide guidance and feedback to ensure everyone is aligned

    • Be the voice of the customer and subject matter expert for your team

    • Work cross-functionally with other product teams on more complex features or company-wide initiatives

    • Be comfortable with change and managing uncertainty

    • Support our marketing and sales teams through documentation, blog posts, demos, and other collateral for product features

  • Effectively engage with stakeholders

    • Be the subject matter expert for your product area for Sales, Support, Marketing, and any other team that needs your support

    • Regularly talk with customers and engage with the broader Okteto community

    • Work with the broader product, design, and engineering teams to share improvements and best practices for product development

  • Define, track, and measure the success of your work

    • Determine the most important KPIs for your product area that will (in)validate your team's bets and successes

    • Be disciplined in analyzing and reporting on your defined success metric(s) to demonstrate successful outcomes

What you will not be solely responsible for

  • A team of engineers: you will take the lead in making decisions about the product, but you will not manage the people implementing it

  • Capacity planning: you will own defining the priorities of what gets planned, but Engineering will evaluate how much work is possible

  • Shipping on time: you will be part of a group, but the group as a whole is responsible for shipping on time. It is not the responsibility of any single person

Must have

  • Strong knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud-native application architecture

A good fit

  • Experience in a Product Management role for a B2B SaaS product

  • High level understanding of a software developer’s git-based workflows

  • Independent with a strong bias for action

  • Adept at breaking down product work into iterative, viable steps

  • Excited about proactively speaking with customers

  • Comfortable with a lot of autonomy and highly pragmatic

  • Strong understanding of how software is built (e.g. dependencies, packaging, testing, deployment)

  • Proficiency in written and spoken English

  • You prefer working asynchronously and on all-remote, globally distributed teams

Nice to have

  • Experience managing a product with both SaaS and Self-Hosted offerings

  • Experience building DevOps tools and products

  • Experience working with open source projects

  • Experience building products and product process from scratch
