The primary duties of the theatre practitioner will be to prioritize patient care, taking part in all patient routes from admission to surgery and post-operative care. As an experienced theatre practitioner, you will be doing preoperative evaluation, diagnostic tests, and theatre scrub under the recommendations of the AfPP. Although it is ideal if you have prior experience working as a scrub practitioner in ophthalmic operating rooms, our clinical education team can offer training and guidance as you move to a position at one of our centers for cataract or ophthalmic surgery.

Previous theatre experience is required. Ophthalmic scrub experience is preferred but not essential as full training is available for suitably qualified RGNs / ODP’s with at least 2 years post qualification clinical experience in a secondary care setting or similar.
Evidence of relevant professional development, clinically, preferably evidenced by certification RN with valid NMC Registration / ODP with valid HCPC Registration
Up-to-date knowledge in area of practice.
Proficient in the use of a PC, including the use of software and systems.
