What you'll be doing
  • Write great, high-value content that helps technical audiences discover Metabase. Some examples to give you a feel for what we want to do more of: Your chart has too many series, Why Metabase Cloud, A PM's guide to getting started with Metabase

  • Partner with analysts to tell interesting stories with data. Some examples: Bus factor of top GitHub projects, Exploring trends in data jobs postings

  • Get your content out there by contributing copy and strategy to promote your work on channels. Even more examples: How Metabase Metabases, How to use filters

  • Brainstorm new types of content to experiment with. New topics, formats, medias, and channels are all areas we'd like to explore.

  • Keep an eye on what's working performance-wise to make decisions about what to work on next.

What you're like
  • You love making high-value things that help attract new users. We don't live and die by performance marketing metrics, but generally you need to be excited about building an engine that unlocks Metabase for more of the world.

  • Experimenting with new things gives you energy, and you're excited by the idea of exploring or trying something fresh most weeks.

  • You worry more about the big picture than the details. Typos aren't great, but they're easy to fix.

  • You structure your workdays effectively. You'll get plenty of feedback and support, but you'll be expected to take assignments from start to finish.

Skills and experience
  • Can point us to samples that represent your best writing.

  • You're familiar enough with SQL to include sample queries in content, and can troubleshoot a sample query (it'll be on the interview)

  • You know Markdown, and are familiar with simple HTML, and CSS

  • You've worked with a static site generator and Git and Github before.

  • Skills you don't need: design, video editing, programming, sous-vide cooking
