Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Execute experiments relevant to product development under direction of Sr. Scientist.

  2. Participate as member of a focused team tasked with development of assays and processes related to Gregor Diagnostics’ screening product.

  3. Maintain cell lines used in development of assays.

  4. Employ statistical methods in data analysis and results interpretation.

  5. Assist in general lab maintenance as needed.

  6. Contribute to the intellectual property portfolio of the company by implementing innovative and creative ideas to solve problems or improve on current methods used.

  7. Participate in technical decisions affecting research and development issues.

  8. Present information at project meetings.

  9. Maintain lab notebook in a complete and consistent manner as well as keeping clear and complete records.

Qualifications

Education and industry experience:

  • Education and industry experience:

    • Master’s in Life Sciences or related field plus a minimum of 1 years of industry experience, or

    • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or related field plus a minimum of 2 years of industry experience

  • Previous experience in the research and development in the biotechnology or life science industry.

  • Experience with sterile technique and cell culture, specifically cancer cell lines.

  • Knowledge with protein chemistry and techniques.

  • Knowledge with nucleic acid and molecular biology techniques.

  • Knowledge with statistical and mathematical methods used in biology/genetics.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills.

  • Ability to execute and perform basic analysis of experiments.

  • Ability to work in a team environment and adapt to changing plans and circumstances.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work for up to 8 hours a day in an office environment.

  • Ability to work up to 6 hours a day in a laboratory environment.

  • Ability to work with hazardous or flammable materials (e.g. chemicals, radioactivity, electrical equipment) so as not to endanger oneself or others.

  • Ability to learn and understand scientific concepts and keep current on the scientific literature and technologies.

  • Constantly moves about to coordinate work.

  • Ability to lift and move up to 40 pounds on an occasional basis.
