A talented and enthusiastic storyteller would be the perfect fit. In order to retain current donors and attract new ones, he or she will oversee the content and design of our digital media. The full-time workplace for this role is our Hospital in Karatu, Tanzania. The Digital Media Manager, as our employee, will collaborate closely with the US office to address the demands of the US Managing Director.

Duties

Content Creation:

  • Capture photos, videos and stories that highlight our mission and programs, producing bold and cutting-edge multimedia material in a respectful, ethical and culturally sensitive manner.

  • Regularly share photos with donors and US office.

  • Create media-based projects such as annual reports and calendars

  • Generate stories and manage the design elements for monthly blogs, e-newsletters and other external communications initiatives in collaboration with the US Managing Director.

Social Media Management:

  • Manage, create and post social media content (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter).

  • Work closely with the Development Associate to build social media campaigns that align with development objectives.

  • Maintain an organized and searchable photo database of patients, staff, volunteers and programs.

Collaboration and Reporting:

  • Report on program developments, highlights and milestones, including assisting US office in data collection and other monitoring & evaluation procedures

  • Interview and engage with doctors, nurses, staff, patients, volunteers and donors to develop and produce captivating stories.

  • Collaborate with the Volunteer Coordinator and the Development Associate to communicate how volunteers can stay connected to FAME after their volunteer experience.

  • Collaborate closely with department heads to stay current on program initiatives and potential story ideas.

Strategy:

  • Develop FAME's communications calendar and social media strategy each year.

  • Keep up to date with other nonprofit and global health organizations' communications to keep FAME’s strategy current and growing with the trends.

  • Develop long-term goals for FAME’s communications to keep up with an ever changing landscape, and ensure that communications are on the cutting edge of nonprofits in the field of global health.

  • Bring FAME’s communications strategy to the next level by identifying gaps and developing special projects to diversify messaging.

Qualifications:

  • Passionate about access to quality, patient-centered healthcare in rural and disadvantaged communities.

  • Rockstar writing and communication skills.

  • Interpersonal skills and the ability to work with others across cultures and backgrounds with respect and collegiality.

  • A self-starter, able to prioritize and manage multiple assignments, take initiative and work independently to drive projects across the finish line.

  • Strong project management skills and the ability to work as part of a global team.

  • Creative eye for design and art.

  • Graphic Design skills.

  • Photography/Videography skills.

  • Experience living and working in east Africa and ability to . This role works daily with the Tanzanian team at FAME Hospital, but is communicating for an international, primarily American audience.

  • Swahili language skills are a plus.
