A process development scientist is needed to provide technical assistance for the production of pharmaceutical and dietary dosage forms. In order to do this, technical projects must be planned, organized, and carried out. Production data must also be statistically analyzed. Additionally, research and development must be consulted in order to decide which market innovations can be adopted in Myerstown. Visa sponsorship is available.
The primary responsibilities of this role, Process Development Scientist III, are to:
Provide technical support for the manufacturing of pharmaceutical and nutritional dosage forms. This involves planning, organizing, and executing technical projects as well as the statistical analysis of production data.
Work with Research and Development to determine which market innovations can be implemented in Myerstown.
Participate in long-range business analyses and planning as needed.
Effectively communicate, explain, and recommend to colleagues and management the results of designs, studies, and/or projects.
Troubleshoot production problems, identify the problem, and recommend solutions.
Carry out scaleup of new products.
Act as the interface between Product Development, Production, and Quality Assurance.
Develop Validation/Qualification protocols; Conduct Validation and issue Validation reports.
Develop new and improved manufacturing processes for current products (to improve product quality, and output and generate cost savings).
Implement effective control strategies within the manufacturing environment.
Write qualification and validation protocols and reports for process validations.
Assist in validation and issuance of validation reports.
Participate in the design and organization of projects to adapt product applications, coordinate multi-faceted application programs or processes, and resolve application problems involving the total nutritional manufacturing/packaging process.
Follow scientific/process technology principles to solve complex technical problems by inductive reasoning.
Assist in troubleshooting production problems; identify the problem and recommend solutions.
Assist with scale-up of new products.
Propose new and improved manufacturing processes for current products (to improve product quality, and output and generate cost savings).

Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline required (Pharmaceutical Science, Industrial Pharmacy, Pharmacy, Chemical Engineering, or Chemistry preferred).
An excellent understanding of the unit operations associated with the manufacture of solid and liquid pharmaceutical dosage forms.
Experience with statistical process control.
Demonstrated ability to understand the scientific aspects of the company's activities and apply that knowledge to the company's goals.
Demonstrated ability to explain and recommend to all levels of personnel the results of projects.
The flexibility to work in a team-oriented or independent environment depending on project needs.
Demonstrated competencies: problem-solving, practical judgment, initiative/assertiveness, job knowledge, leadership, planning/organizing, attention to detail, sense of urgency/timing, creativity/innovation, and strong written and verbal communication skills.
Personal computer skills.
Experience with Microsoft Office software and statistical analysis.
Preferred Competencies:
4 years of pharmaceutical product development experience.
