We are looking for skilled meat cutters and butchers who have experience utilizing meat-cutting equipment to join our team. In order to make meat products for retail and wholesale customers, the ideal applicant will be able to operate a variety of meat-cutting machines and have a solid understanding of the various types and cuts of meat. We are willing to apply for LMIAs for selected candidates. The employer is willing to provide support for eligible candidates for Canadian Experience Class, Express Entry and Provincial Nominee Programs.
Use various meat cutting machines such as band saws, grinders, slicers, and choppers to process meat products
Cut, trim, and prepare meat using machines and specialized knives to meet customer specifications and requirements
Respond to the planned schedule and ensure proper tooling is set and assembly is complete as necessary ready for production
Ensure all machine safeties are installed
Ensure proper dates are put on product and correct film and flavor is being used
Set machine speeds (using computer settings on some machines)
Transfer product from conveyor or table in to pocket or formed pouch on the machine and if required flavouring.
Ensure there is a ‘Soaker Pad’ in the pocket, if applicable
If packaging sliced Peameal Bacon, ensure it is ‘Shingled’ properly and adjust as required
Wipe any contamination off the seal if required
Verify weight of product
Maintain a clean and uncluttered work station
At shift completion disassemble equipment in preparation for sanitation.
Purge sauce injectors.
Remove in-edibles.
Clean and tidy area and cover all electrical panels.
Requisition materials and supplies.
Prepare paperwork including production and quality reports
High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in performing duties in this description
Be content to work with all types of meat like Chicken, Pork and Beef
CLB 6 Minimum in English
Lower English Level Acceptable if Native Spanish speaker
Good verbal, motor and cognitive skills with the ability to do heavy work, including lifting and the ability to handle a fast paced production line
Ability to interact with others, take control and make decisions with a can do attitude, always achieving a positive outcome
Ability to maintain the highest standards of food safety and confidentiality regarding production techniques and processes. Sense of maturity.
Ability to work with accuracy and attention to detail while multitasking, concentrating and working to tight deadlines
