We are seeking a Data Engineer to become a member of our team in order to further enhance and revolutionize our growing data capabilities. You will play a key part in upkeep and optimization of our analytics and data stack in this capacity. In order to create and enhance our data and analytics stack, you will collaborate directly with engineers and data scientists. Your contribution will be critical to supporting our data infrastructure's scalability, enabling thorough data analysis to guide strategic decisions, and optimizing data flows for real-time analytics.
Collaborate with data scientists and engineers to develop and enhance VRChat's data pipelines, ensuring efficient data flow and integration.
Design and implement robust ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to handle large volumes of data efficiently and reliably.
Manage and optimize data storage solutions, ensuring data availability and security.
Integrate diverse data sources, facilitating comprehensive data analysis and decision-making processes.
Support the scalability and performance of the data infrastructure to accommodate growing data needs.
Monitor data system performance, identifying and resolving issues to ensure uninterrupted data processing and analysis.
Play a pivotal role as a key stakeholder in defining and establishing schema best practices, ensuring optimal data structure design and management in line with industry standards.
Stay updated with the latest technologies and practices in data engineering to continually improve VRChat's data capabilities.
Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and ethical standards in data handling, prioritizing user privacy and data security.
Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field.
5+ years of relevant experience at high-growth companies.
Proven experience in data engineering, with a strong background in designing and building scalable data pipelines.
Experience with cloud computing services (e.g. AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Azure).
Experience with cloud based databases and data warehouse solutions (e.g. Snowflake, Redshift, MongoDB).
Experience with cloud ETL tools (e.g. Fivetran, Hevo, Glue).
Proficient in programming languages such as Python, Javascript, or Scala.
A track record of successful collaboration in cross-functional teams, particularly with data scientists and software engineers.
Strong expertise in SQL and experience with NoSQL databases like MongoDB or Cassandra.
Experience working in a fast-paced environment that required balancing competing priorities.
Highly-organized and effectively able to hit deliverable deadlines with high quality output and outcomes.
Self-starter with an independent drive that can successfully follow through on initiatives
Ability to act fast and adapt to quickly changing situations.
Professionalism and integrity.
Experience in social platforms or social gaming.
A basic understanding of Unity 3D.
Demonstrated interest in and understanding of VR and online communities
Certifications in relevant technologies or platforms (e.g. SnowPro, AWS Certified Data Analytics) are a plus.
