An enthusiastic entry-level geotechnical engineer is needed immediately for a position in our Salt Lake City, Utah office. We are looking for applicants who have a positive, professional, and client-focused attitude and who work hard to create designs that are backed up by reliable geotechnical principles and accurate analyses. Strong technical and people skills are required, as well as the capacity to work efficiently under the guidance of senior and intermediate geotechnical experts. Work under supervision of project managers and senior-level team members.
Provide geotechnical engineering and design support for highways, mining facilities, dams and levees, buildings, and other projects as needed.
Conduct field exploration, collect samples, and review geotechnical samples for laboratory testing.
Prepare calculations and develop drawings and figures.
Perform geotechnical analyses using computer programs, including Excel, gINT, GeoStudio (SEEP/W, SLOPE/W), UTEXAS, Settle3, AutoCAD/Civil 3D, and Visual Basic
Prepare engineering reports, plans and specifications.
Build trust in relationships with clients and colleagues.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, from an ABET-accredited university, with an emphasis in geotechnical engineering or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
Passing score on the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam
Master’s degree focused on Geotechnical Engineering
1-2 years of experience, including field experience with geotechnical drilling and sampling, and cone penetration test soundings
Experience working with a multidisciplinary team of geologists and civil, structural, and geotechnical engineers
Familiarity working in geotechnical software, including Excel, gINT, GeoStudio (SEEP/W, SLOPE/W), UTEXAS, Settle3, AutoCAD/Civil 3D, and Visual Basic
Excellent verbal communication and technical writing skills
Proficiency working in Excel and Word

Regular project site travel required. (up to 25%)
Offered rate of compensation (Utah locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The target salary range for this position is $65,000-$80,000.
