Senior scientists will receive expert advice from you as a grants officer on all facets of pre- and post-award administration. In the administration of financial, legal, and grant compliance issues pertaining to grant proposals and active grants, you will serve as the primary contact. You will have a sizable grant portfolio that is currently active, including sizable group projects. This role is based in Hinxton, near Cambridge, UK. You will be required to relocate if you are based overseas and you will receive a generous relocation package to support you.
You will need to be confident in conducting organised communication with and between external partners, funding bodies, professional legal, and intellectual property advisors, as well as other members of the EMBL administrative team both at the EMBL-EBI and EMBL-Heidelberg (Germany).
Disseminate information on funding opportunities via the internal website to EMBL-EBI Group and Team Leaders
To understand and provide advice to EMBL-EBI Group and Team Leaders on the administrative and financial requirements laid down by different funding bodies, for both pre and post award
Provide costing's for applications for external funding, and ensure that all administrative stages are completed to deadline
Read and flag-up EMBL-EBI specific issues in draft contracts and agreements for successful awards to ensure that these are resolved prior to signature
Coordinate, in conjunction with the relevant project manager for large collaborative projects, administrative processes relating to submission, contract negotiation and management of projects
Liaise with EMBL Budget Office with preparation of expenditure reports for funding bodies - e.g. Checking costs are eligible.
Liaise with EMBL Lawyer and EMBLEM (EMBL Technology Transfer) on legal and Intellectual Property Rights issues

Grading: Grade 5 (monthly salary starting at £2.882 after tax) + other paid benefits

Proven administration skills
High level of competence with PC Windows packages including Office (Word, Excel)
