A recently qualified accountant is needed by us. You will oversee all reporting activities for a portfolio of "captive" insurance businesses, who are financial services clients of your employer. Your professional abilities will be challenged while you work in a welcoming setting, frequently with the assistance of a mentor. If you are new to the insurance industry, you are welcome to apply because your new company will offer both internal and external training.
Production of quarterly and annual financial statements
Analysis of financial results (for example, reviewing by the ,shareholder, insurance policy, type of business and/or underwriting year)
Working alongside management, you will drive continual review and improvement of finance processes, internal controls, and wider controls
Co-ordinate the annual audit in cooperation with external auditors
Preparation and filing of statutory financial returns to the Bermuda Monetary Authority
You'll actively participate in company meetings and be responsible for cash management and day-to-day administration of client companies
You'll look after the investment management program and, with the assistance of legal counsel, ensure all your clients' agreements and Re/Insurance policies are in place
You'll also monitor collateral requirements and administer letters of credit
A professional accountancy designation (ACA, CA, CPA or ACCA) with 0-5 years' post-qualification experience
Experience preparing financial statements and collaborating with clients and external auditors
External audit experience working on clients in the offshore Insurance sector a definite asset but not a requirement
A first-rate professional work ethic with a ‘can do’ attitude
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are highly valued
You may need to work overtime on occasion
