The Compositing Supervisor will supervise, monitor, direct and influence all aspects of high-end, feature film compositing across multiple projects. This position is directly responsible for ensuring the disciplines of compositing, roto & paint are able to seamlessly integrate multi-pass cg assets into live action plates. Your primary focus is on ensuring your leads are supported in managing their own teams' performance while representing your department's interest across the wider production environment. We are currently looking for an experienced Compositing Supervisor to join our growing team. Employment period: ASAP start with a 12 month - 2 yeear contract. Location: Adelaide, Australia.

With extensive high-profile feature film credits under your belt, you are likely to have established your career in similar supervisory or leadership roles with recognised VFX houses across the globe. Responsibilities

  • Ensure RSP delivers quality shots on time and on budget.

  • Set quality expectations for your department.

  • Manage lead performance issues by regularly meeting with those reporting directly to you.

  • Help leads resolve issues they face in dealing with their own crew, resolving conflicts as required.

  • Work with Head of 2D, VFX & CG Supervisor to build client confidence early

  • Work with production, pipeline, lighting, environment & effects teams to ensure all aspects of delivery are efficient.

  • Establish quality control standards and approve compositing team output assessing consistency and quality, ensuring all deliveries are in line with technical and creative delivery requirements.

  • Contribute to company wide creative and technical discussion, with a view to raising the quality level of the final image.

  • Contribute to compositing training agenda, by identifying areas of potential improvements.

  • Lead by example, be accountable and hold others to account.

  • Promote a collaborative and enjoyable workplace influencing morale, fostering purposeful discussions and a positive work ethic.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 7 years professional experience creating high-end effects for live-action feature films.

  • Expert user of Nuke.

  • Excellent self organisation, communication and crew management skills.

  • Thorough understanding of the VFX pipeline [mono & stereo] covering the entire post-production process.

  • Some experience with creating templates, scripts and tool development.

  • Have a proven record of resolving the most difficult of compositing challenges.

  • Able to work in a Linux based operating system using command line tools.

  • Working knowledge of other disciplines such as tracking, layout, environment, effects and lighting as well as other industry standard software such as maya, houdini and 3dequaliser.

  • Real world understanding of physics, math, proportion, depth and colour.

  • Understanding of naturalistic light and motion with a focus on dynamics and natural phenomenon.

  • Superior level of attention to detail and strong eye for aesthetic composition.

  • Maintain a calm and professional demeanour in a delivery focused work environment.

  • Problem solving with a can-do mindset
